Origin Determination of Paraíba Tourmaline
Origin is an opinion, not a measurement. It is formed by comparing a stone’s trace-element chemistry and inclusions against reference samples of known provenance.

How is origin determined?
Laboratories measure trace elements with LA-ICP-MS and compare the pattern with their reference databases. Inclusions and spectroscopy provide supporting evidence.
Why might no origin be given?
If reference data are insufficient, or if a stone’s chemistry overlaps several sources, a laboratory will usually decline to state origin rather than guess.
